Breast reduction
At Geoderma Clinic, the breast reduction service aims to address the problem of excessively large breasts, which may be due to hereditary, hormonal factors or body weight. A large breast often causes pain in the neck, shoulders and spine, and can lead to irritation and hyperhidrosis in the folds under the breasts. In addition, it is a hindrance to sports activities and limits clothing options. Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that removes excess breast volume, fat and skin, simultaneously achieving breast lift and repositioning of the nipples. The result is breasts in harmony with the rest of the body's proportions and relief from pre-operative symptoms. Any woman who is not happy with the size of her breasts and is experiencing related symptoms is a candidate for the operation.

What should be done before surgery?
Before surgery, a complete medical history and photographs of the area are taken to determine the appropriate surgical technique. Pre-operative breast examination with ultrasound or mammography is necessary. It is recommended to stop smoking 4 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery to reduce the chances of complications. In addition, the use of aspirin, anticoagulants and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen should be avoided before surgery.
What happens during surgery?
The process begins with planning the incision in an upright position. Depending on the volume, shape and degree of nipple prolapse, the appropriate technique is chosen to remove excess skin, gland and fat. The areola is moved to a higher position and the incisions are usually in an inverted "T" shape from the nipple to the inframammary fold, accompanied by a periammillary incision. The pre-designed section of skin, fat and gland is removed to achieve the desired breast size. Finally, the incisions are sutured, drains are placed, and a pressure bandage is applied.
Anesthesia: General anesthesia
Duration: 3 hours
Stay: 1-2 days
What happens after surgery?
After the operation, the hospital stay does not exceed 48 hours. Drains are usually removed 1-2 days later. Gauzes are applied to the wound for about 2 weeks, while the use of a special sports bra is necessary for 6 weeks. Patients usually need 1-2 weeks off work, depending on the nature of their work. Exercise and weight lifting are allowed after about 6 weeks. The scars are constantly improving and the final aesthetic result is visible in about 12 months. Breastfeeding is usually not affected, but there may be difficulty producing milk.
What are potential complications?
Possible complications, as in any surgery, exist, but they are controllable and limited in incidence. Some possible complications are: bleeding – hematoma, wound infection, lower extremity vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, open wound, nipple hypoesthesia, areola necrosis, breastfeeding difficulties
